B Mirror Report: A significant step toward making the port a completely smart and paperless facility was taken today when the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) unveiled a state-of-the-art digital platform called “Port Single Window” (Port Single Window–CPA SKY) in the port building’s board room.
While CPA Chairman Rear Admiral M A Moniruzzaman was physically present at the inauguration, principal Adviser’s Special Assistant to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, participated digitally as the principal guest.
Speaking at the event, Taiyeb said the new system is expected to boost the port’s operational efficiency by three to five times, creating a significant positive impact on the national economy and international trade.
Through the Port Single Window (CPA SKY), users can access all services via a Single Sign-On (AIS 2.0) system using one set of login credentials. The platform features real-time monitoring through a digital radar and an automated vessel tracking system, enabling live tracking of ship movements.
The system will facilitate quicker customs and port clearances, allowing importers and exporters to secure necessary approvals and complete cargo processing from a single online platform, eliminating the need to visit multiple offices. It is also designed to enhance transparency and accountability at every stage, thereby improving the overall ease of doing business.
14 of the 21 berths were in use on the day of the launch, according to the system dashboard, which showed a 67 percent berth use rate. Additionally, 128 vessels were being tracked by the platform.
According to officials, the project will guarantee a more effective digital transformation of port operations and significantly cut down on manual processes.
