Ceylon Amar Shohor’ mega campaign held in Chattogram

Chattogram Correspondent: Ceylon Tea has celebrated the history, heritage, culture, cuisine and lifestyle of Chattogram through its ‘Ceylon Amar Shohor Chattogram’ campaign.

A mega event of the campaign was held at the Navy Convention Centre in Chattogram on Thursday (September 3), showcasing the city’s historical landmarks, port and railway heritage, local culture, music, food and urban life.

The event presented both old and new Chattogram through various experiential displays, highlighting lesser-known historical stories and the city’s transformation over time. Traditional food and lifestyle elements, including mezban, bela biscuit and tea gatherings, were also featured.

As part of the campaign, specially designed Ceylon Tea packaging highlighting Chattogram’s heritage was introduced, while a digital ‘Amar Shohor’ contest invited residents to share their memories and stories about the city. Weekly winners were selected, with lottery winners receiving special prizes at the mega event.

A major attraction was the ‘Ceylon Amar Shohor Special Personality Award’, presented to five prominent personalities for their contributions to Chattogram’s identity, culture and society. The recipients were journalist and Daily Azadi Editor MA Malek, journalist Abul Momen, architect and urban planner Jerina Hossain, urban planner and engineer Delwar Hossain Majumder, and writer and researcher Harun Rashid.

Brigadier General (retd) Shahidullah Chowdhury, Executive Director of Abul Khair Group, presented the awards. He said the group paid around Tk 18,000 crore in customs, VAT and excise duties to the government exchequer in the last fiscal year.

He said the group gives importance to CSR activities in sports, culture and children’s talent development. The ‘Ceylon Amar Shohor’ campaign is also part of this initiative and is planned to be expanded to other cities across Bangladesh.

Actress Sabila Nur and Samira Khan Mahi, along with businesspeople, cultural personalities, media professionals, content creators, influencers and others, attended the event.
