B Mirror Report: The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved revised levelized electricity tariffs for two major power plants operated by the North-West Power Generation Company Limited (NWPGCL), adjusting purchase rates to reflect current market fuel prices.
The decision was taken at the 20th CCGP meeting of the year held at the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. The Power Division presented six proposals at the meeting, with particular focus on tariff revisions for the Sirajganj 225 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (Unit-2) and the Bheramara 410 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant.
Under the updated framework, the committee approved revised tariffs for electricity procurement from NWPGCL based on prevailing fuel costs. For the Sirajganj 225 MW plant, the gas-based electricity tariff has been fixed at 4.513 US cents per kilowatt-hour, equivalent to Tk 5.541 per kWh. The high-speed diesel (HSD)-based tariff has been set at 19.298 US cents per kWh, or Tk 23.698 per kWh.
For the Bheramara 410 MW plant, the approved gas-based tariff stands at 3.7869 US cents per kWh (Tk 4.6503 per kWh), while the HSD-based tariff has been set at 16.8540 US cents per kWh (Tk 20.6967 per kWh).
