Capital market will be strengthened through reforms: Maqsood

BM Desk: Khandaker Rashed Maqsood, the chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), stated that stepping up reform initiatives will help the stock market grow even more.

He made these remarks during the Eid reunion program on Sunday, April 6, the first working day following Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, which was hosted at the BSEC’s Multipurpose Hall in the capital, Agargaon.

The program was attended by the Chairman of the BSEC, Commissioners, and other officials. The BSEC Chairman and Commissioners greeted one another on Eid at the start of the program.

This was the first time in BSEC’s history that the program was planned as a post-Eid reunion. By doing this, an attempt was made to improve the relationship between the concerned parties and the institution’s officers and staff.

Khandaker Rashed Maqsood mentioned the peaceful and joyful celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. He termed this year’s Eid as an Eid of relief. He highlighted the issue of the recent imposition of tariffs by the United States and mentioned that all efforts are being made to take necessary steps to resolve it. In addition, he highlighted the government’s success in the rehabilitation of the Rohingyas as an important achievement for the country.

Based on the organization’s previous operations, he urged BSEC officials to take an active part in the nation’s economy and welfare. He added that he hoped the nation’s efforts to reform the stock market would be further reinforced.

The chairman and commissioners also greeted each other on Eid and met with representatives of the nation’s stock market’s pertinent institutions and organizations. Present were representatives from a number of organizations, including Central Depository Bangladesh Limited, Central Counterparty Bangladesh Limited, Dhaka Stock Exchange, and Chittagong Stock Exchange.
