B Mirror Desk : The chief adviser has directed the establishment of a fund for managing recovered illicit funds, which will be allocated for public welfare, as stated by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy this afternoon after a meeting focused on the progress of recovering laundered money.
The meeting took place at the State Guest House Jamuna, chaired by the chief adviser. During the briefing, Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur mentioned that the fund will be established in accordance with current laws, and if necessary, legal amendments will be made to facilitate its creation.
He expressed optimism that the fund could be established within the interim government’s term, but emphasized that the elected government should oversee its continuation.
