The Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance healthcare access for UGC officials, employees, and their family members.
The MoU was signed on Wednesday at a ceremony held at BSMMU, with BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Sharfuddin Ahmed and UGC Secretary Ferdous Zaman representing their respective institutions.
Under the terms of the MoU, BSMMU will issue Health Cards/Medical Service Books to eligible UGC personnel for a specified fee. These cards will entitle the holders to discounted rates on various medical services provided by BSMMU. Additionally, cabin and bed reservations will be prioritized for UGC personnel in case of hospitalization.
This collaboration between UGC and BSMMU is a significant step towards ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for the UGC community. The discounted medical services and prioritized hospitalization facilities will provide much-needed relief and support to UGC officials, employees, and their families.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both UGC and BSMMU, including UGC Private University Division Director Md. Omar Farooq, Public University Management Department Director and UGC Officers Association President Mohammad Jaminur Rahman, Planning and Development Department Director Mohammad Makchudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Officers Association General Secretary Md. Golam Dastgir, UGC Employees Union President Md. Nurul Islam Bepari, and General Secretary Md. Saiful Islam.
This MoU underscores the commitment of both UGC and BSMMU to the well-being of their respective communities. The enhanced healthcare access for UGC personnel will undoubtedly contribute to their overall health and productivity.
