B Mirror Report: The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has reshuffled and reassigned responsibilities among 12 executive directors, with several officials relinquishing some of their existing duties while others have been given additional or new responsibilities.
The changes were announced in an office order issued by the commission’s Administration and Finance Division on October 7.
Under the new arrangement, Executive Director Md Anwarul Islam has been relieved of his responsibility for the Market and Intermediaries Affairs Division. He will now oversee only the Market Intelligence and Investigation Division.
Executive Director Mohammad Shafiul Azam will continue to oversee the Financial Literacy Division and the Governance Performance Monitoring System (GPMS).
Executive Director (Legal Services) Md Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury will retain responsibility for the Law Division. Chief Accounting Officer Kamrul Enam Khan will continue to oversee the Chief Accountant Division and the Internal Audit and Compliance Division.
Executive Director Mohammad Jahangir Alam, who previously oversaw both the Research and Development (R&D) Division and the Corporate Finance Division, has been relieved of responsibility for the latter and will now focus solely on the R&D Division.
Ripon Kumar Debnath will continue to oversee the Enforcement Division, while Mir Mosharraf Hossain Chowdhury will remain in charge of the Issuer Company Affairs Division.
Meanwhile, Executive Director Md Abul Kalam has been assigned additional responsibilities. Previously in charge of the Derivatives Division and serving as the commission’s spokesperson, he will also oversee the Corporate Finance Division under the new arrangement.
Executive Director Mohammad Mahmudul Haque will continue to lead the Investment Management Division, while Executive Director Rajib Ahmed will remain in charge of the ICT Division. Executive Director Md Mansur Rahman will continue to oversee the Administration and Finance Division.
Executive Director Sheikh Mahbub Ur Rahman has been assigned responsibility for the Market and Intermediaries Affairs Division, previously overseen by Anwarul Islam.
Sheikh Mahbub Ur Rahman was promoted to executive director on October 7 after serving as a director for more than 15 years.
BSEC has 12 executive director positions, all of which are currently filled. Several of these senior-level positions had remained vacant for more than a year before the recent appointments and promotions.
The reshuffle brings changes to several key divisions of the capital market regulator, particularly Market and Intermediaries Affairs, Corporate Finance, Market Intelligence and Investigation, and Research and Development.
