The BSEC Director and Spokesperson Md. Abul Kalam released a press release on Tuesday, July 22, announcing that the BSEC held a meeting with the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Advisor on Monday, July 21, at Rail Bhaban, to discuss the listing of profitable and established government companies within the country’s capital market, in accordance with the Chief Advisor’s directives regarding the capital market’s advancement.
Participants in the meeting included Power Advisor Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Bangladesh Power Development Board Chairman Md. Rezaul Karim, BSEC Chairman Khandaker Rashed Maksud, and Commissioner Md. Mohsin Chowdhury.
BSEC has indicated that listing companies with strong fundamentals in the capital market is crucial for enhancing the vibrancy and robustness of the country’s capital market. This meeting was a continuation of BSEC’s ongoing efforts and initiatives. Additionally, the meeting addressed the necessary steps to facilitate the direct listing of profitable and reputable companies in the power and energy sectors within the capital market.
It is important to mention that a high-level meeting was conducted on May 11 at the residence of the Chief Advisor, Jamuna, to assess the current condition of the capital market and to deliberate on the measures required for its enhancement. The meeting was attended by the BSEC Chairman, Financial Advisor, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, and Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division.
During this meeting, the Chief Advisor provided several directives concerning the development of the capital market. Following these directives, BSEC has already initiated essential actions for the capital market’s development and has commenced collaborative efforts with all relevant organizations and institutions to execute these instructions.
