BSC to Purchase Two Ships for Tk 947 Crore

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC), which is publicly traded on the capital market, has made the decision to acquire two new vessels from China. The total expenditure for this acquisition will amount to Tk 947 crore 70 lakh.

A proposal concerning this matter was sanctioned during the board of directors meeting held on Wednesday (August 6). This information was disclosed by sources from the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

As per the source, the board approved the proposal to purchase two ships from a Chinese shipbuilding firm, following a review of the tender evaluation committee’s report during the meeting. The cost of this procurement is approximately 78 million US dollars, equivalent to about 947 crore 70 lakh Bangladeshi taka. Importantly, BSC will finance this expenditure using its own resources.

Prior to executing this decision, the proposal will be submitted for final approval to the Advisory Committee on Government Procurement. This initiative is anticipated to enhance the company’s transportation capacity by incorporating modern vessels into its fleet. BSC’s fleet.
