British politician Samuel Tarry visits Dhaka to experience Bangladesh’s development

BM Report:

British politician Samuel Tarry is currently on a four-day visit to Dhaka at the invitation of United Development Initiatives for Programmed Actions (UDDIPAN) to witness the country’s remarkable development journey.

UDDIPAN is a non-governmental organization dedicated to the socio-economic development of marginalized communities throughout Bangladesh. During his visit, Tarry has been exploring UDDIPAN’s projects and engaging with various stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of the country’s progress.

On the first day of his trip, Tarry visited UDDIPAN’s daily project and proposed university campus in Vakurta, Savar. He was accompanied by UDDIPAN Chairman Md Nazrul Islam Khan and Board Member and Adviser on International Affairs Nazir Alam.

“Bangladesh’s economy is rapidly transforming into a developing one,” remarked UDDIPAN Chairman Md Nazrul Islam Khan. “We are confident that the country has the potential to achieve significant growth, and UDDIPAN is committed to supporting this journey as a non-government development agency.”

Regarding Tarry’s Dhaka visit, UDDIPAN Director Nazir Alam emphasized that the international delegate is keen to experience Bangladesh’s rapid development over the past decade.

“Bangladeshi products have the potential to make a mark in the European market,” Alam stated. “Additionally, as a representative of a constituency with a large South Asian community, including a substantial Bangladeshi population, Tarry can play a crucial role in fostering economic cooperation between Bangladesh and the UK.”

Tarry’s itinerary includes a visit to Rahimafrooz factory in Ishwardhi to explore the potential of batteries and solar solutions for the UK market. He has also met with representatives of UDDIPAN Renewable Energy Limited (UREL) to discuss bilateral trade and investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

Before concluding his visit, Tarry is scheduled to visit a Walton Electronics factory to explore the potential of connecting Bangladeshi technology equipment to the European market. He will also inaugurate the Simulation Lab & Space 39 of UDDIPAN at SKS Tower in the capital.

Samuel Tarry is a prominent figure in British politics, representing a constituency with a significant Bangladeshi population. As the Shadow Minister for Transport under Labour leader Keir Starmer, Tarry plays a crucial role in shaping the party’s stance on transportation policies. Tarry’s diverse engagement in both politics and sports is further demonstrated by his position as captain and chair of the UK parliamentary rugby team and his active participation in the all-party parliamentary group for Bangladesh.
