BRAC Bank’s Selim Hussain re-elected as head of bankers association, ABB

BRAC Bank CEO Selim R.F. Hussain secured a second term as Chairman of the Association of Bankers Bangladesh Limited (ABB) at the organization’s annual general meeting on Saturday.

Hussain, who led ABB from 2022 to 2023, was unanimously re-elected by the association’s members. He will be joined by three newly elected Vice Chairmen: Mohammed Monirul Moula, MD & CEO, Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC; Mashrur Arefin, MD & CEO, City Bank PLC

Abul Kashem Md Shirin, MD & CEO, Dutch Bangla Bank PLC; Additionally, the ABB members elected Hassan O. Rashid, MD & CEO of Prime Bank PLC, as the new Secretary General, and Md Ahsan-uz Zaman, MD & CEO of Midland Bank Ltd., as the Treasurer.

The 16-member board, led by Hussain, will take office on January 1, 2024. Under his leadership, the board aims to advance the mission and objectives of ABB; strengthen collaboration within the banking sector; and contribute to Bangladesh’s overall economic development. 

The ABB congratulated its newly elected members and expressed gratitude to the outgoing board for their service.
