The two-kilometer walkway constructed by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) in Shahrasti and Hajiganj areas of Chandpur on the bank of the Dakatiya river from Chikhtia to Suchipara bridge was opened to the public on Saturday.
Bir Uttam Rafiqul Islam, President of the Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry, was present as the chief guest in the inauguration ceremony.
Mustafa Kamal, Senior Secretary of the Department of Shipping, was present as a special guest, and Chairman of BIWTA, Arif Ahmed Mostafa, presided over the function.
