The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has completed land agreements on Wednesday with six investors with hotels, oxygen, furniture, and kitchenware units.
The investing companies are Linde Bangladesh Limited, Master Rack & Furniture, Sanjana Fabrics Limited, OMC Limited, SFL Hotel & Resort Limited, and Kinbo Manufacturing Industries Limited.
Land lease agreements with these companies were signed at a ceremony held at the Beza office in the city.
Beza Executive Chairman Sheikh Yusuf Harun said that although there are many challenges, BEZA is successfully ensuring water, gas, and electricity through coordination with all government agencies.
He called on the investing companies to invest in these areas as early as possible.
”Ensure that no land is left vacant,” he added. “BEZA is working with various development partners to ensure international standards in economic zones.”
According to BEZA, under the Prime Minister’s Office, companies get 21 acres of land given to six companies, and a total of USD 69 million will be invested there to create at least 3 thousand jobs.
Linde Bangladesh Limited will set up an oxygen processing plant on 5 acres of land in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar. The company will invest about USD 17 million in setting up the industry. Bivabasu Sengupta, Managing Director of Linde Bangladesh Limited, said, “We are interested in setting up industry quickly after the transfer of land. Our product will be delivered to the medical industry.”
Master Rack & Furniture will set up a rack and other industrial furniture manufacturing industry on 3 acres of land at BSMSN. The company will invest about USD 7 million in setting up the industry. Al Mamun, the owner of the company, said, Racks are imported, but now our company will make world-class products here by using Italian technology so as to help the country by producing import substitute products.
Sanjana Fabrics Limited will develop a hotel and resort on 3 acres of land at Sabrang Tourism Park with an investment of USD 20 million. Sohrab Hossain, managing director of the organization “Our hotels and resorts will help in the development of the tourism industry as the project is 5-star standard,” he added.
OMC Limited will also develop a hotel and resort on 2 acres of land at Sabrang, investing USD 7 million and generating employment for around 350 people. Rizwan Mannan, director of the organization, said that his organization has been engaged in the stainless steel, kitchen goods, textile testing, and real estate business industries in Bangladesh for 43 years.
SFL Hotel & Resort Limited will develop a hotel and resort with an investment of about USD 16 million on 6 acres of land at Sabrang. The chairman of the organization, Chowdhury Nafiz Sharafat, said that his organization will take on the world-famous hotel chain Marriott to manage their hotel.
Kinbo Manufacturing Industries Limited will set up a kitchen appliance manufacturing plant on 2 acres of land in Jamalpur Economic Zone with an investment of about USD 2 million. Naveed Ahmed, Managing Director of the organization, said, “As part of the Miyako brand, we are expanding production capacity to meet the increasing demand for kitchen appliances in the Bangladesh market.
