Bangladesh signs deal for US$400m budget support with AIIB

BM Desk : Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Hoque, Director General (DG) of the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG), has stated his hope that the current maritime security cooperation between Australia and Bangladesh can be further strengthened.

He said, “We believe that the current marine security and cooperation links between Australia and Bangladesh would be further cemented.”
He made this statement while Rear Admiral Brett Sonter, Commander of Australian Maritime Border Command and Commander of Joint Agency Task Force (JATF), Operation Sovereign Borders (OSB), and a delegation from the Australian Embassy visited the Bangladesh Coast Guard Headquarters in the capital’s Agargaon on Monday, according to BSS.

Representatives from the Australian Border Force and BCG pledged during the meeting to uphold the continuation of amicable ties and collaborations established for mutual gain in order to guarantee enduring friendship between the two nations.
Ziaul Hoque emphasized in his welcoming speech the importance of enhancing the two nations’ cooperative collaboration in order to properly enforce maritime law, raise regional awareness, and develop capability.
He added that in order to stop international crimes, illicit fishing, drug and human trafficking, and terrorist activities at sea, real-time intelligence sharing, cooperative training, and strategic cooperation are crucial.

The BCG head added that the Australian Border Force and Bangladesh Coast Guard are collaborating on this mission based on professionalism and shared resolve.
According to Rear Admiral Md. Ziaul Hoque, the force’s efficiency has greatly risen as a result of Australia’s assistance in expanding its training, technical support, and surveillance capabilities.
