B Mirror Report: The central bank has revised the office and banking hours for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. During Ramadan, banking transactions will take place from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, while office hours will run from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
On Tuesday (10 February), Bangladesh Bank’s Supervisory Data Management and Analytics Department issued a circular announcing the new schedule, which was shared with the media.
According to the circular, all scheduled banks operating in the country will remain open from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM during Ramadan. There will be a break for Zuhr prayer from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM, but alternative arrangements must be made to continue transactions during this period.
Under normal circumstances, banking transactions run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and office hours are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, every year during Ramadan, the central bank reduces office and banking hours. In other words, banking operations and office timings are shortened during the month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is set to begin next week. Ahead of this, Bangladesh Bank has now set the new schedule. The circular also states that office hours will return to normal after the holy month of Ramadan.
