B Mirror Report: The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) has revealed data showing that the country’s point-to-point inflation rate increased marginally to 8.58 percent in January 2026, up from 8.49 percent in December 2025.
The modest rise in inflation was mainly driven by an increase in food prices. Data from BBS showed that point-to-point food inflation rose slightly to 8.29 percent in January 2026, up from 7.71 percent in December 2025.
In contrast, non-food inflation experienced a minor decline, falling to 8.81 percent last month from 9.13 percent in December 2025.
The statistics also revealed that inflation in both rural and urban areas saw a slight increase during January.
