Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) exports have recorded year-on-year growth for three consecutive months, from August to October, in the current fiscal year 2026-27, following a decline in July.
According to statistics compiled by Bangladesh Apparel Voice (BAV) based on Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data, the country earned $13.75 billion from garment exports during July-October of FY27, marking a 5.82% increase compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Garment export earnings stood at $12.99 billion during July-October of FY26.
The data show that RMG exports declined by 1.92% year-on-year in July. However, the sector returned to positive growth in August, recording a 13.92% increase. Exports grew by 8.56% in September and 4.90% in October.
In October alone, garment export earnings reached $3.17 billion, up 4.90% from $3.02 billion in the same month of 2025. The increase amounted to $147.85 million year-on-year.
Both knitwear and woven garments recorded positive growth in October. Knitwear exports generated $1.77 billion, up 6.48% from $1.66 billion in October 2025.
Meanwhile, woven garment exports earned $1.40 billion, registering 2.96% growth compared to $1.36 billion in the same period last year.
Knitwear also outperformed woven garments in the first four months of FY27. Earnings from knitwear exports reached $7.73 billion during July-October, up 6.79% from $7.24 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
Woven garment exports generated $6.02 billion during the same period, representing 4.60% growth from $5.75 billion a year earlier.
The figures indicate that growth in both knitwear and woven garment exports contributed to the overall expansion of Bangladesh’s RMG sector in the first four months of the current fiscal year, with knitwear maintaining a stronger growth rate.
The consecutive growth over the past three months signals a positive trend for the country’s largest export-earning sector.
