During the first 18 days of January of the new year, 1206.88 million US dollars in remittances or expatriate income came into the country through legal channels. The value in the local currency is 14,724-billion-taka, equivalent to 122 taka per dollar. Therefore, the average daily remittance is about 818 million taka.

After reviewing the data of the Central Bank, it was found that in the first 18 days of this January, 258.87 million dollars came through state-owned banks, 59 million US dollars came through a specialized bank, 893.31 million dollars came through private banks and 3720 thousand US dollars came through foreign banks.
No remittances came to 9 banks during the period under discussion. These are the public sector Bangladesh Development Bank or BDBL, the specialized Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank. The Bersakari banks include Community Bank, ICB Islami Bank and Padma Bank. Foreign sector banks include Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, State Bank of India and Uri Bank.
In the 6 months from July to December of the current 2024-25 fiscal year, remittances of US$ 1,377.7 million were received in the country. In the same period of the previous year, the amount was US$ 1,800 million. Remittances increased by US$ 2,977.7 million during the period in question.
Of this, US$ 1,913.7 million was received in July of the fiscal year, US$ 2,224.1 million in August, US$ 2,404.7 million in September, US$ 2,395 million in October, US$ 1,930 million in November and US$ 2,638.7 million in December.
Earlier, in July of the 2023-24 fiscal year, remittances of $197.31 million came to the country, $1.5994 million came in August, $1.3343 million came in September, $1.141 million came in October, $1.933 million came in November, $1.912 million came in December, $2.1131 million came in January, $2.1645 million came in February, $1.997 million came in March, $2.0442 million came in April, $2.2538 million came in May, and $2.5416 million came in June.
