Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) has stepped forward to support Ismail Ekon, an indomitable young man from Bagerhat and a private security guard at the bank’s ATM booth, after media reports highlighted his story: he would perform his night shift at the ATM booth and then appear for his HSC examination the following morning, even after the passing of his father. On Thursday, the bank decided to provide him with one lakh taka in cash and a month’s leave, and to take responsibility for his family. Due to his family’s financial crisis, Ekon had been working as a private security guard at a Bangladesh Krishi Bank ATM booth alongside his studies.

It is worth noting that the manager and other officials of Bangladesh Krishi Bank’s Bagerhat branch attended the funeral prayer for Ekon’s father and granted him leave while meeting with the family. However, as a state of mourning prevailed at home, he decided to study at the bank’s ATM booth where he was on duty in preparation for the exam he was scheduled to attend the following day. Bangladesh Krishi Bank took this humane decision out of respect for Ekon’s invincible willpower.
