Bangladesh-Bhutan Strengthen Ties in Health and Telecom Sectors

Bangladesh and Bhutan inked two significant memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to increase internet connectivity and boost health sector collaboration after a planned meeting. Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser for Bangladesh, and Shering Tobgay, the prime minister of Bhutan, both attended the formal signing ceremony on Saturday and saw the documents being exchanged.

The first MoU, focused on collaboration in the health sector, is titled “Appointment of Health Workforce” and was signed between the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Health of the Royal Government of Bhutan. The agreement was signed on behalf of Bangladesh by Md. Saidur Rahman, Secretary of the Health Services Division.

The second MoU, titled “Trade of International Internet Bandwidth and Other Telecommunication Services,” was signed between the governments of Bangladesh and Bhutan. Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, signed on behalf of Bangladesh.

Prior to the signing, a high-level tete-a-tete meeting was held at the office of the Chief Adviser in Tejgaon, followed by formal bilateral discussions between the top leaders of the two countries, laying the foundation for these agreements.
