Bangladesh a global development role model – State Minister for Labour and Employment

B Mirror Desk:

Bangladesh has been recognized as a role model for development worldwide, remarked the State Minister for Labour and Employment, Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, MP. The minister made this statement as the chief guest at the APA Agreement Signing and Integrity Award Ceremony organised by the Ministry of Labour and Employment in the ministry’s conference room on Thursday.

In his keynote speech, the State Minister further emphasised that everyone must remember the goals and objectives for which they fought in the Liberation War under the leadership of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu. To achieve those objectives, we need to work diligently under the indomitable leadership of Bangabandhu’s capable successor, the Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Labour Minister stated that the APA (Annual Performance Agreement) was introduced in the fiscal year 2014-15 to enhance efficiency and accountability in government activities, improve service quality, and increase the effectiveness of institutions. The targets for the APA are set based on the government’s election manifesto, the Prime Minister’s directives, the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, the Perspective Plan, and the Delta Plan, along with other policies or plans outlined by the ministry/department. As a result, it has been possible to ensure the successful implementation of development plans.

The Minister also mentioned that as public servants, we must perform each task properly and strive to satisfy every service recipient. Only then will we be able to build Bangabandhu’s vision of a happy, prosperous, poverty-free, egalitarian, and exploitation-free Golden Bengal. At the end of the event, the State Minister congratulated all award recipients and thanked all the officers and employees of the Ministry of Labour and Employment for their proper execution of tasks according to the Annual Performance Agreement.

The APA Agreement Signing and Integrity Award Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment was attended by Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, along with senior officials from the Department of Labour, the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, the Minimum Wage Board, the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation, and other senior officials of the ministry.
