Apex Tannery to Invest in Modern Effluent Treatment Plant

B Mirror Report : Apex Tannery Limited, a leather sector company listed on the stock market, has decided to install its own Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) at its factory to meet environmental standards and comply with the requirements of international buyers.

This decision was taken at the company’s Board of Directors meeting held on Tuesday, January 13. On Wednesday, January 14, the company informed investors of this development through the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website.

According to information published on the DSE, Apex Tannery will set up the ETP within its factory premises. In addition, a “Chrome Recovery Plant” and a “Sewage Treatment Plant” will also be constructed. The entire project is planned to cover an area of approximately 12,000 to 15,000 square feet.

The company stated that the construction of this modern waste treatment facility is expected to cost around 12 crore BDT. The plant will have the capacity to treat waste at every stage, from the tannery’s “wet blue” phase to the production of “finished leather.”

Apex Tannery said the main objective of this initiative is to meet the strict environmental standards set by international buyers and to ensure full compliance with the country’s existing environmental laws.
