Md. Nazrul Islam, Rajbari District Correspondent: Rajbari District Jubo League President Md Shaukat Hasan (55) has been arrested by the Sadar Police Station. He is the son of deceased Azahar Ali Sheikh of Aladipur village of Sadar Upazila.

He was arrested from Aladipur area of Rajbari Sadar Upazila on Tuesday (March 25) at 2.30 pm.

According to the case, on July 18, 2024, at 4:15 PM, the protesters were suddenly surrounded by deadly weapons such as bombs, firearms, ramadas, chapatis, iron rods, basher sticks, and various tree branches at the Barapul roundabout on the Rajbari-Dhaka highway. The bombs they had were thrown to kill the protesters. The agitators ran in different directions as their dagger bombs exploded. The students and their parents detonated the bombs they brought with them to kill the protestors. They raised firearms and fired at the crowd, creating terror and beating the protesters severely, causing serious injuries. The injured in the attack were not allowed to get any treatment anywhere including the Rajbari Sadar Hospital. Attempting to brutally and ruthlessly suppress a Yoktik movement and making a futile attempt to frustrate the anti-discrimination student movement with false cases. Sonia Akter Smriti, Nurun Nabi, Ashiq Islam Abhi, Rajib Mollah, Mehrab, Altaf Mahmud Sagar, Utsya Sarkar, Riaz and numerous other activists were injured in the attack.

Rajib Molla, the son of deceased Abdur Razzak Molla of Kauria village, filed a case against 300 anonymous people including 170 named as the plaintiff in this incident on August 30 last year.

Officer-in-charge of Rajbari Sadar police station, Md. Mahmudur Rahman said, SI Md. Mikail Hossain conducted the operation along with the joint force. Md Shaukat Hasan arrested the accused involved in the case from Aladipur area of Rajbari Sadar police station. The arrested accused has been sent to Rajbari court.
