B Mirror Desk : The Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), and the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) met under the direction of Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury in an attempt to improve the BSEC and progress the stock market.
Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury presided over this meeting, which was held at the Planning Commission on Sunday, June 1. Khandaker Rashed Maksud, the chairman of the BSEC, Dr. M. Aslam Alam, the chairman of the IDRA, and Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, the chairman of the FRC, were also present.
The discussions covered various topics concerning the enhancement of the nation’s capital market, insurance sector, and overall economy. The meeting focused on the growth of the insurance sector, the increased role of insurance companies in bolstering the capital market and the economy. Furthermore, the responsibilities of auditors in ensuring the transparency and accuracy of financial statements for companies listed in the capital market were addressed, along with initiatives aimed at improving the overall quality of these financial statements.
During the meeting, Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury offered crucial guidance on fostering better coordination among the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority, and the Financial Reporting Council, as well as enhancing the quality of financial statements and addressing matters related to the development of the capital market, insurance sector, and economy.
