In a recent development, Mr. Akkas Uddin Mollah has been unanimously re-elected as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, and Mr. Fakir Akhtaruzzaman has been re-elected as the Vice-Chairman. This decision was made during the 373rd meeting of the Board of Directors held on February 7th, 2024.
Mr. Akkas Uddin Mollah, born into a respectable Muslim family in Nawabganj, Dhaka in 1954, brings with him a wealth of experience spanning over three decades. He has made significant contributions to the garment industry, establishing multiple successful ventures such as Russel Spinning Mills Limited and Goodman Pharmaceuticals Limited. Furthermore, Mr. Mollah is renowned for his philanthropic endeavors, having founded institutions like Osmania Madrasa and Osmania Memorial Hospital.
Meanwhile, Mr. Fakir Akhtaruzzaman, born in 1956 in Panchrukhi, Araihazar, Narayanganj District, has also been re-elected as Vice-Chairman. With over three decades of experience in the knit garments industry, Mr. Akhtaruzzaman has earned accolades such as the National Export Trophy and recognition as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) by the Government of Bangladesh. Additionally, he has contributed significantly to education and healthcare, founding institutions like Shaheb Ali High School and Begum Anowara College.
Both Mr. Mollah and Mr. Akhtaruzzaman have affiliations with various trade bodies and social organizations, further enhancing their contributions to society. Their re-elections signify the continued trust and confidence placed in their leadership abilities within Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC.
