Agrani Bank board reshuffled, four new directors appointed

The government has made a major reshuffle in the board of directors of state-owned Agrani Bank, withdrawing three directors and appointing four new ones.

The Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued separate notifications on August 30 announcing the changes.

The newly appointed directors are former secretary Md Fazlul Bari, Abul Ehtesham Abdul Muhaymen, Md Asaduzzaman, and former district and sessions judge Hosne Ara Begum.

The bank authorities have been instructed to initiate their appointment to the board for three years from the date of their joining.

The appointments are to be made in accordance with the provisions of the Bank Companies Act, 1991.

Meanwhile, Fayez Ahmed, Mohammad Sultan Mahmud and Dr Md Fazlul Haque have been withdrawn from their positions as directors. Their withdrawal orders took immediate effect from August 30.

The Financial Institutions Division informed Agrani Bank’s chairman and managing director, as well as the governor of Bangladesh Bank, about the appointments and withdrawals.

The bank has also been directed to inform the Financial Institutions Division of the joining dates of the four new directors.
