Advisory Council offers prayers for BNP chief Khaleda’s recovery

The interim government’s Advisory Council convened a special meeting when prayers were offered for BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia’s speedy recovery.

The meeting was presided over by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus this morning at his Tejgaon office in the capital. According to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain administered the doa.

The council approved the draft of the Foreign Donations (Voluntary Activities) Regulation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 both in concept and in full at the meeting.

The revision modifies a number of existing statute provisions, streamlines NGO registration processes, and loosens requirements for the disbursement of foreign grants.

According to the law, which has been made more stakeholder-friendly, donations up to Tk50 lakh annually would no longer need clearance.

Additionally, the Police Commission Ordinance, 2025 draft was presented prior to today’s meeting, but the Council of Advisers directed that it be presented again at the following meeting in a more thorough and updated version.

Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Asif Nazrul told the council during the meeting that the remaining 24 people who had been detained in the United Arab Emirates on suspicion of taking part in the July mass uprising
