The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has moved the court to appoint a receiver to oversee and protect all immovable assets of former Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed. The petition, signed by Md. Moshiur Rahman, head of ACC’s Joint Investigation Team (JIT), was submitted last Thursday to the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge.
According to ACC sources, the petition highlights the need for a receiver to manage, supervise, and maintain properties registered under Javed’s name or aliases in Chittagong and Dhaka, including flats and other immovable properties. Earlier, four court orders had seized and frozen his movable and immovable assets. While movable assets like bank deposits and shares were frozen under court orders, no receivers had been appointed as these were held by banks and financial institutions.
The ACC petition warns that without a court-appointed receiver, the assets could face deterioration or misuse. The court is expected to decide on the appointment of a receiver soon.
