Pre-booking for these bikes is anticipated to commence in May 2024
BM Desk:
Ifad Group has inked a deal with Royal Enfield motorcycles, set to bring the iconic bikes to the streets of Bangladesh. The commercial operations, spearheaded by Ifad Group, are slated to kick off in July of this year.
Initially, four Royal Enfield models—Bullet, Meteor, Hunter, and Classic—are poised to make their debut in the Bangladeshi market.
Taskeen Ahmed, Vice Chairman of Ifad Motors Ltd, has confirmed plans to launch Royal Enfield bikes in Bangladesh starting July 2024. Pre-booking for these bikes is anticipated to commence in May 2024.
The 350cc Royal Enfield motorbike holds a prominent position among bike enthusiasts, and with the government’s relaxation of the cc limit in September 2023, allowing bikes with engines up to 350cc on the streets, the anticipation for these iconic rides has grown.
Despite this relaxation, the ban on importing completely-built bikes exceeding 165cc remains in effect in Bangladesh. Only locally-manufactured bikes surpassing the 165cc threshold are permitted on the streets.
Uttara Motors, the manufacturer of Bajaj motorcycles in Bangladesh, had previously seized the opportunity by launching its 250cc model Pulsar N 250 following the government’s approval for motorcycles up to 375cc to ply the roads late last year.
