Advocate’s chamber vandalized in Rupganj amid post-election unrest

In an alarming incident, the office of advocate Taibur Rahman was reportedly vandalized in Rupganj of Narayanganj following post-election violence.

The attack occurred on Monday afternoon in Atlapur market of Volabo union in the upazila, reads a press release.

Advocate Taibur Rahman, who operates a legal help center called ‘Law Help Center’ in Atlapur Bazar, alleged that miscreants targeted his office due to his support for former upazila chairman and Upazila Awami League general secretary Shahjahan Bhuiyan, an independent candidate in the recently concluded 12th national parliament elections.

Rahman claimed that a group of 15-20 individuals, allegedly led by members of the ruling party named Sajib, Rafiqul, and Rocky, orchestrated the vandalism. He expressed intentions to file a case in this regard.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj Police Station, Deepak Chandra Saha, stated, “I have not received any complaint in this matter yet.” Assuring necessary legal action upon receiving complaints, Saha emphasized a commitment to addressing the situation.
