EC gears up for media with dedicated center in Dhaka

BM Desk:

As anticipation builds for the 12th parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC) has established a dedicated media center at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. This facility aims to facilitate seamless information access for local and foreign journalists and observers throughout the electoral process.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal officially inaugurated the media center on Thursday, alongside Election Commissioners and senior officials from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Foreign Ministry, and the Election Commission itself.

The center will serve as a vital hub for media personnel covering the elections, providing essential resources and updates related to voting results, candidate details, election logistics, and other relevant information. This centralized point of contact is intended to streamline information dissemination and ensure efficient communication with national and international press.

Speaking at the launch, CEC Kazi Habibul Awal emphasized the Commission’s commitment to transparency and accessibility. He announced the development of a new “election management app” that will provide real-time updates on voter turnout every two hours. This innovation promises to enhance transparency and keep the public informed about the progress of the elections.

The establishment of the media center and the introduction of the new app reflect the BEC’s efforts to create an open and informed electoral environment. These initiatives demonstrate the Commission’s dedication to facilitating smooth media coverage and upholding the integrity of the upcoming elections.

With the media center now operational and the election management app readily available, journalists and observers are well-equipped to cover the upcoming polls and keep the public informed. The 12th parliamentary elections in Bangladesh promise to be a momentous occasion, and the BEC’s proactive approach assures a well-informed and transparent electoral process.
