BM Report:
The Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center (CRILIC), under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming (CRIM) project of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), inaugurated a three-day training session on data storage and quality assurance of Climate Impact Assessment on Tuesday. The training aims to enhance the capacity of LGED engineers to effectively collect, store, and analyze climate data, ensuring the quality and integrity of information used for climate-resilient infrastructure development.
Nazmul Hasan Chowdhury, Project Director of Cream and Acrylic, emphasized the significance of this training in preparing Bangladesh for the future impacts of global climate change. He stated, “Considering the potential negative effects of climate change on Bangladesh, we must equip ourselves with comprehensive training to develop climate-resilient local infrastructure.”
The training will be delivered by experts from IDC Krilik, including Dun Boom, Senior Organizational Development Expert Antonio Arenas, Senior Civil Engineering Expert Homdrom Wevind, and Training Specialist Banda Hafiz. The participants will gain hands-on experience in data management techniques, quality control procedures, and the use of specialized software tools.
In addition to the 12 LGED engineers from headquarters participating directly, engineers from Bhola Sadar, Tamizuddin, and Lalmohan upazilas will join the training remotely via Zoom. This blended learning approach ensures that engineers from across Bangladesh can access this valuable training opportunity.
The training is a crucial step towards strengthening LGED’s capacity to address climate change adaptation and resilience in local infrastructure development. By enhancing data management practices and ensuring data quality, LGED can make informed decisions that lead to sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure for the communities of Bangladesh.
The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is a Bangladeshi government agency responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining rural infrastructure, including roads, bridges, culverts, and buildings. LGED plays a vital role in promoting sustainable development and improving the lives of rural communities.
The Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center (CRILIC) is a knowledge hub and training center established under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming (CRIM) project of LGED. CRLIC provides technical support, training, and capacity building to LGED engineers and stakeholders on climate-resilient infrastructure development.
