A six-member delegation from the Nanjing Vocational Institute of Transport Technology (NJITT) paid a courtesy visit to Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor A S M Maksud Kamal on Saturday. The delegation, led by NJITT’s Deputy Party Secretary Wen Aiming, engaged in discussions with Prof. Kamal and other DU officials to explore potential avenues for academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The NJITT delegation included Jiang Ling, Dean and Prof. Zhao Yanjing, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Road, Bridge and Harbor Engineering; Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering Zhang Wenbin; Director of International Chinese Language Teaching and Research Center Ye Yaojun; and Deputy Director of Development Planning Office Zhang Dawei. DU was represented by Dean of the Faculty of Earth & Environmental Sciences Zillur Rahman and Director of DU Public Relations Office Mahmood Alam.
During the meeting, both parties expressed keen interest in establishing joint academic and research programs, emphasizing the potential for exchanging faculty members, researchers, and students. They also discussed the possibility of collaborative projects in areas of mutual interest, such as transportation technology, infrastructure development, and environmental sustainability.
Prof. Kamal welcomed the NJITT delegation and expressed his appreciation for their interest in partnering with DU. “We are excited to explore potential collaborations with NJITT, a renowned institution in vocational and technical education,” he remarked. “Such partnerships can foster knowledge exchange, promote innovation, and contribute to the advancement of education and research in both our institutions.”
The NJITT delegation’s visit underscores the growing emphasis on international cooperation in higher education. By forging partnerships with institutions like NJITT, DU can expand its global reach, enrich its academic offerings, and prepare its students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
