PM leaves for New York Monday

Prime Minister Tarek Rahman will leave Dhaka for New York on Monday (September 21) to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), according to the Foreign Ministry.

The prime minister is scheduled to address the UNGA on September 24. His visit to the United States has been shortened, and he is expected to leave New York for Dhaka on the night of September 25, a day after delivering his address.

During the visit, Rahman will attend several high-level meetings at the United Nations and hold bilateral talks with leaders of various countries.

He is also scheduled to participate in Bangladesh-hosted discussions on issues including the Rohingya crisis.

The prime minister is expected to meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, World Bank President Ajay Banga and senior officials of several other international organisations. Rahman will also attend a dinner hosted by US President Donald Trump.
