Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited (BCBL) has launched the Bangla QR payment service as part of its efforts to promote a cashless Bangladesh and expand digital, interoperable payment solutions across the country.

The launch ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Board of Directors Md. Ataur Rahman as the chief guest. Chairman of the Board Executive Committee Md. Mohsin Mia joined as the special guest, while Managing Director Md. Obaidul Haque presided over the event.

Among others present were Deputy Managing Directors Mohammad Ziaul Karim and Md. Zahirul Alam, heads of departments at the bank’s head office, while branch managers and sub-branch in-charges from across the country participated virtually.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Md. Ataur Rahman highlighted the importance of encouraging customers to make payments through Bangla QR. He also discussed the benefits and operational features of the platform, emphasizing that the service would help bring more people, particularly those in underserved and rural areas, into the formal banking system.

Executive Committee Chairman Md. Mohsin Mia said the Bangla QR service would enable customers to conduct transactions quickly, securely, and without cash, while ensuring proper verification of transaction details.

Managing Director Md. Obaidul Haque underscored the significance of Bangla QR in advancing digital banking. He noted that the platform is suitable for businesses of all sizes and would help extend modern banking services to grassroots communities through a more accessible and efficient payment system.

The launch marks another step in Bangladesh Commerce Bank’s digital transformation strategy, supporting the country’s broader goal of increasing cashless transactions and financial inclusion.
