Titas warns customers against fake gas bill payment scams

B Mirror Report: Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC has issued a public warning urging customers to remain vigilant against fraudsters posing as company officials to collect gas bill payments.

In a notice released on Friday, the state-owned gas distributor said a group of scammers has been calling customers, falsely identifying themselves as Titas officials. The fraudsters reportedly threaten customers with claims of outstanding gas bills and pressure them to transfer money to personal bKash accounts.

Titas emphasized that gas bills should only be paid through its designated partner banks or approved mobile financial service (MFS) platforms, including bKash, Rocket, Upay, and Tap. Under no circumstances should customers send gas bill payments to any individual’s personal mobile financial account.

The company also advised customers to remain cautious if they receive suspicious phone calls or payment requests. It urged consumers to contact the nearest Titas office or use the official contact numbers available on the company’s website to verify any billing-related information and seek assistance.

Titas said the warning aims to protect customers from financial fraud and ensure that payments are made only through authorized channels.
