B Mirror Report: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday inaugurated a nationwide teacher training program aimed at expanding vocational and technical education and developing a skilled workforce for the global job market.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in the capital under the theme, “Learn Vocational Skills, Work Across the World.”

The initiative, undertaken by the National University, seeks to train 12,000 college teachers across the country to enhance their capacity in delivering career-oriented and technical education.

During the event, National University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A.S.M. Amanullah presented the Prime Minister with a commemorative crest and a sapling. Senior university officials were also present at the program.

A documentary highlighting the lives and contributions of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was screened at the beginning of the event.

Addressing the gathering were Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education and Primary Education Mahdi Amin, and National University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A.S.M. Amanullah.

Under the new curriculum, students will receive training in emerging fields including freelancing, entrepreneurship development, digital marketing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data science.

To support the rollout of the program, authorities have already prepared 900 master trainers, who will gradually train the targeted 12,000 teachers nationwide.

Officials said the initiative is designed to align education with labor market demands and help produce skilled human resources capable of competing in both domestic and international job markets.
