LGED hosts workshop on climate-resilient building materials

An inception workshop on the “Assessment of Best Practices in Terms of Building Materials” was held on Tuesday at the seminar room of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) headquarters.

The event was organized by the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project, currently being implemented by LGED.

The workshop was chaired by Md. Azharul Islam, Director of CReLIC and Additional Chief Engineer of LGED, while Syeda Asma Khatun, Additional Chief Engineer of LGED, attended as the Chief Guest.

In her speech, Syeda Asma Khatun emphasized that ensuring the use of climate-resilient and high-quality construction materials is essential for sustainable infrastructure development. She noted that the initiative by LGED and CReLIC would help disseminate best practices for modern and environmentally friendly building materials at the field level.

A detailed presentation was delivered by Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Team Leader of EQMS Consulting Limited, outlining the methodology and approach of the assessment.

The workshop was attended by LGED Additional Chief Engineers Molla Mizanur Rahman, Kazi Saiful Kabir, Md. Wahiduzzaman, and Md. Golam Mowla. Superintending Engineers Md. Hamidul Haque, Md. Anisul Wahab Khan, and Md. Akhtar Hossain were also present.

Among others, Project Directors, Executive Engineers, Senior Assistant Engineers, and officials of the CRIMP-CReLIC project including Md. Abdul Khaleque, Md. Latif Hossain, Fatema Ismat Ara, Arpan Paul, and specialist consultants Md. Abdul Nur, Md. Shahidul Islam, Md. Sadequr Rahman Bhuiyan, Md. Masudur Rahman, and Syed Mahbub Ahsan also attended the session.
