Inauguration of Sub-Branch of Bangladesh Krishi Bank

Bangladesh Krishi Bank inaugurated the Saharbati Bazar Sub-Branch under Gangni Branch of Meherpur Region with a view to strengthening the rural economy, enhancing financial inclusion in the agricultural sector, and delivering modern banking services to people’s doorsteps, on April 6, 2026.

The sub-branch was formally inaugurated by the Deputy Managing Director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Mohd. Khaleduzzaman, who attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. In his speech, the Chief Guest stated that Bangladesh Krishi Bank has been playing a vital role in the development of agriculture and the rural economy of the country. He added that with the launch of the Saharbati Bazar Sub-Branch, local farmers, small entrepreneurs, business owners, and general customers will be able to access remittance services and other modern banking facilities more easily, which will further accelerate the overall economic activities of the area. Special guests at the event included Anwar Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Gangni, and General Manager of the Kushtia Division of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Utpal Kabiraj.

The ceremony was presided over by Prahlad Kumar Hor, Regional Manager of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Meherpur Region. It is worth mentioning that on the very first day of inauguration, the sub-branch collected deposits amounting to BDT 70 Lacs and disbursed agricultural loans worth BDT 22 lacs. Following the inauguration ceremony, a colorful rally was organized to mark the occasion. The rally marched through Saharbati Bazar and surrounding key roads, with enthusiastic participation from bank officials and staff, local businesspeople, and people from various walks of life.
