B Mirror Report: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep shock and grief over the casualties caused by a train bus collision in Cumilla, as well as other accidents reported across the country, including in Habiganj.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibly said the premier conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed in the tragic crash crossing in Cumilla.
The accident, which occurred late Saturday night, follows another recent train incident in Bogura. In response, the Prime Minister has instructed the concerned authorities to promptly determine the causes behind the latest He has already held several meetings with relevant ministry officials and local administration to review the situation.
The premier directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and to provide financial assistance to the families of the victims. He also stressed that a thorough investigation will be carried out and strict legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible for negligence.
Three committees have been formed to investigate the Cumilla rail accident—two by railway authorities and one by the district administration. All committees have been asked to submit their reports within 72 hours. Initial action has already been taken against several individuals, with further steps to follow based on the findings.
Additionally, the Prime Minister has instructed authorities to ensure proper treatment and necessary support for those injured in road accidents in Feni, Habiganj, Jamalpur, and other parts of the country.
Describing the incidents as deeply tragic, especially during the festive period of Eid, Tarique Rahman said every life is valuable and every death is an irreparable loss. He prayed for the departed souls, expressed sympathy to the bereaved families, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to public safety, the Prime Minister emphasized ensuring safe and uninterrupted movement of people and warned that no negligence will be tolerated.
He also directed the relevant ministries to identify weaknesses in railway crossing management, bridge safety, and the overall transportation system, and to take immediate corrective measures.
