SCC Administrator Seeks Cooperation for Overall Development of Sylhet City

Nurul Amin Khan (Sylhet Bureau Chief): The administrator of Sylhet City Corporation has sought the cooperation of people from all walks of life to ensure the overall development of the city, maintain cleanliness, and improve the quality of civic services.

Speaking at several iftar gatherings organized by different organisations in Sylhet city on Friday, he said that the initiative of the city corporation alone is not enough to build a modern, clean, and livable city; it also requires awareness and active participation from citizens.

He further said that the city corporation is continuously working on infrastructure development, road repairs, drainage to reduce waterlogging, waste management, and environmental protection. With the cooperation of residents, these activities will become more dynamic and effective.

The administrator urged everyone to help keep the city clean, dispose of waste in designated places, and cooperate in implementing development activities. He expressed hope that through collective efforts, Sylhet can be transformed into a modern, beautiful, and livable city.

Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury delivered the chief guest’s speech at the inauguration ceremony and iftar programme of the newly elected executive committee of the Sylhet district unit of the Bangladesh Book Publishers and Sellers Association, held at a hotel in the city in the afternoon. The programme was presided over by the district unit president of the organisation, Gazi Nasir. Acting President of Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Rezaul Hasan Qayes Lodi spoke as a special guest.

Later, the SCC administrator also attended and delivered the chief guest’s speech at iftar and prayer gatherings organised by the Sylhet-based Ashtagram Upazila Development and Welfare Association, the Barishal Divisional Welfare Association in Sylhet, the Medical Technologists Association of Bangladesh, Qira’atul Quran Parishad, and Shahjalal NGFF School and College.
