B Mirror Report: Due to security risks, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan temporarily closed their airspace starting on 28 February. This decision directly impacted operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
On Friday (6 March) alone, 33 flights were cancelled. In total, 245 flights of various airlines have been cancelled over the past seven days.
According to sources from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), the flight cancellations occurred due to the closure of air routes amid the war-like situation. From Dhaka, 23 flights were cancelled on 28 February, 40 on 1 March, 46 on 2 March, 39 on 3 March, 28 on 4 March, and 36 on 5 March.
Among the flights cancelled today are: 4 Kuwait Airways flights, 4 Jazeera Airways (Kuwait), 6 Air Arabia (Sharjah, UAE), 4 Qatar Airways, 2 Flydubai (UAE), 5 US-Bangla Airlines (Bangladesh), 2 Gulf Air (Bahrain), 2 Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and 4 Emirates flights (UAE), bringing today’s total cancellations to 33. Altogether, the number of cancelled flights has reached 245 so far.
