Prime Minister directs launch city bus service for women

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed authorities to introduce a dedicated bus service exclusively for women in the capital, aiming to ensure safer and more comfortable public transportation.

The directive was conveyed during a meeting at the Secretariat, where the Prime Minister asked Sheikh Rabiul Alam, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, to take immediate steps to roll out the women-only bus service across the city.

Speaking to reporters, Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said the premier issued the order while reviewing the current state of the country’s road transport system.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister received a detailed briefing on transport conditions and provided necessary guidance to improve overall service standards, including measures to enhance passenger safety and efficiency.

In a separate meeting, the Prime Minister also directed Zakaria Taher, Minister for Housing and Public Works, to complete renovation and development work at the grave of Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

According to the Additional Press Secretary, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe to ensure proper arrangements ahead of the religious festival.

Further details regarding the implementation timeline of the women-only bus service are expected to be announced soon.
