B Mirror Report : The government has approved a proposal to procure five liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes in 2026 on a government-to-government (G2G) basis from Aramco Trading Singapore Pte Ltd to meet the country’s growing energy demand.
The approval was given at the fourth meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase of this year, held on Tuesday at the Cabinet Division Conference Room in the Bangladesh Secretariat, with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presiding.
Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan briefed journalists after the meeting, according to BSS.
Under the approved proposal, state-owned Petrobangla will procure the LNG directly from Aramco Trading Singapore Pte Ltd through a G2G arrangement. The price has been fixed at JKM plus US$0.145 per MMBTU.
Officials said the import of LNG will help ensure uninterrupted gas supply for electricity generation as well as industrial consumption, supporting overall energy security in the country.
