The 13th anniversary of Asian Television, one of the country’s leading satellite TV channels, was celebrated yesterday (Sunday). The ceremony was inaugurated with a cake-cutting event at the channel’s head office by Rupayan Group Chairman and Senior Vice Chairman of Asian Television, Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul; Rupayan Group Co-Chairman and Asian TV Director, Mahir Ali Khan Ratul; and Asian TV CEO Md Zahid Ibne Rashid.
Also present on the occasion were Rupayan Group Vice Chairman Ali Akbar Khan Ratan, Asian TV Deputy Managing Director Sajjad Rashid Parvez, Rupayan Group Adviser Brigadier General Abul Kalam Azad (Retd), Abdul Gaffar, former President of the National Press Club and Editor of Daily Desh Rupantor Kamal Uddin Sobuj, and prominent businessman Shariful Azam Chowdhury, among others.
Before cutting the cake, Rupayan Group Co-Chairman Mahir Ali Khan Ratul said that alongside its real estate business, Rupayan Group places strong emphasis on information technology. To ensure the free flow of information, the group has been investing in television and newspapers and managing media outlets with professionalism.
He described Asian TV and Daily Desh Rupantor as practical examples of this commitment and urged everyone at Asian TV to continue broadcasting objective news and programmes with sincerity. He also mentioned that in 2026, Asian TV’s programmes and news division would be taken to a new level.
Asian TV CEO Zahid Ibne Rashid said that viewers would get to see a wide range of popular programmes on Asian TV in the coming days.
Editor of Daily Desh Rupantor Kamal Uddin Sobuj said that democracy thrives when the media remains free, which is beneficial for any government. He added that Asian Television would continue to work for the welfare of the country and the nation by delivering objective news, as it has done in the past.
Asian Television’s screen was filled with various special programmes throughout the day as part of the anniversary celebrations.
