DSE market capitalization rises by Tk 2,401 crore

B Mirror Report : The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the nation’s premier capital market, saw trade throughout the outgoing week (January 4–January 8) with an increase in indices. Consequently, throughout the course of the week, the DSE’s market capitalization rose by Tk 2,401 crore.

This information was revealed in the weekly update report of the capital market.

On the last trading day of the week, the DSE’s market capitalization stood at Tk 6,83,180 crore. On the last trading day of the previous week, it was Tk 6,80,779 crore. That means the market capitalization of the DSE increased by Tk 2,401 crore, or 0.35 percent, over the week.

During the week, all indices of the DSE posted gains. The benchmark index DSEX rose by 87.94 points, or 1.79 percent. Meanwhile, the DSE-30 index increased by 45.52 points, or 2.43 percent, and the DSES index gained 4.80 points, or 0.48 percent.

Trading volume on the DSE also increased. Total turnover during the week amounted to Tk 2,372.72 crore, compared to Tk 1,417.25 crore in the previous week. Thus, weekly turnover rose by Tk 955.47 crore.

Average daily turnover increased by Tk 120.23 crore, or 33.93 percent. In the current week, the DSE recorded an average daily turnover of Tk 474.54 crore, while in the previous week it was Tk 354.31 crore.

Throughout the week, shares and mutual fund units of 389 companies were traded on the DSE. Of these, prices rose for 176 companies, fell for 177 companies, and remained unchanged for 35 companies.
