On the occasion of Christmas, both stock exchanges in the country will remain closed on Thursday, December 25.
This information was confirmed on Wednesday, December 24, by the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE). As a result, along with the weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday, stock market trading will remain suspended for three consecutive days.
According to information on the stock exchanges’ websites, all government, private, and autonomous institutions in the country will remain closed for Christmas. At the same time, all banks and non-banking financial institutions will also remain closed. Since stock market transactions are conducted through banking channels, trading in the stock market will also be suspended while banks are closed.
Meanwhile, the operations of the stock market regulator, the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), will also remain closed. With Friday and Saturday being weekly public holidays, all activities in the stock market will remain suspended from Thursday to Saturday. Trading will resume as usual on Sunday, December 28.
