Indonesian National Shippers’ Council (INSC) organized annual meeting of the Asian Shippers’ Alliance (ASA) & Global Shippers’ Alliance (GSA) was held in Bali, Indonesia on 06 November, 2025.

A 2(two) member delegation of Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB) headed by its Chairman, Md. Rezaul Karim attended the meeting. Senior Vice Chairman Md. Ariful Ahsan also attended the meeting. At the meeting, representatives of GSA and ASA highlighted the recurring issues of unfair and escalating charges, including terminal access charges (TAC), continuous increases in port charges, depot lifting charges, and other rising miscellaneous costs. They also discussed and provided opinions on port congestion, depot control & management issues and the member organizations agreed to urgently consult with their respective government agencies and international organizations to resolve these important issues.

During the Asian Shippers’ Alliance (ASA) session, elections for the 2026-2027 terms were held. The meeting unanimously elected the Thai National Shippers’ Council’s (TNSC) Chairman as the new ASA Chairman. The Chairman of Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB), Australian Peak Shippers’ Association (APSA) and The Hong Kong Shippers’ Council (HKSC) were appointed as Vice Chairmen.

In his speech, SCB Chairman and Asian Shippers Alliance Vice Chairman Md. Rezaul Karim highlighted the government’s necessary steps to increase the capacity of Bangladesh ports, modernize them, and the activities of the Shippers Council of Bangladesh to meet the challenges of survival as a developing country.

Representatives from the American Association of Exporters and Importers; Australian Peak Shippers Association; European, Hong Kong, Korea, Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council and Thailand, Indonesia & Malaysian National Shippers Councils also attended the meeting.
