H.M. Imran, Jhenaidah: A human chain was formed in Jhenaidah protesting the posting of a corrupt Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and corruption and irregularities among government officials.

The program was organized by the Fascism Resistance Student Unity in front of the Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Sunday morning. Former leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, activists from Islami Chhatra Shibir and Islami Chhatra Andolon took part in the demonstration carrying banners and placards.

During the hour-long protest, former convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Jhenaidah District Unit Abu Huraira, member secretary Saidur Rahman, Islami Chhatra Shibir city unit general secretary Masud Parvez, Islami Chhatra Andolon vice president M. Abdur Rahman, and KC College Shibir president Mahbubur Rahman, among others, delivered speeches.

Speakers said that Sudipta Kumar Sinha, the UNO of Sarankhola upazila in Bagerhat, who was accused of corruption, extortion, and acting against students and the public, has been transferred to Harinakundu in Jhenaidah. Objecting to this posting, they said that no corrupt or authoritarian official will be allowed to take charge in Jhenaidah.

They also demanded an end to irregularities and corruption in various government offices from the human chain.
