Noakhali Correspondent: A nationwide typhoid vaccination campaign has officially begun in Noakhali, aiming to protect children from the potentially life-threatening disease. The initiative, launched on Sunday morning, targets over 1.2 million children aged between 9 months and 15 years across the district.
The campaign is being conducted simultaneously in all nine upazilas and eight municipalities of Noakhali, with vaccinations administered at 4,810 centers. The program will run for 18 consecutive days. During the first 10 days, vaccines will be provided at educational institutions, followed by 8 days of immunization at both permanent and temporary centers.
The inaugural event took place at Noannoi High School in Sadar Upazila, where Dr. Moryom Simi, Civil Surgeon of Noakhali, formally launched the campaign. The ceremony was attended by key district officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Taslimun Nesa, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Ibrahim, District Education Officer Nur Uddin Md. Jahangir, and Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Homayra Islam.
Dr. Simi emphasized the importance of reaching every eligible child in the district, stating that the health department is committed to ensuring comprehensive coverage. She reiterated that all children within the specified age group are included in this vaccination drive, which is part of a broader national effort to combat typhoid.
